A song for Beltaine: Music in the Meadow

May is here
Summer suddenly appears
Strawberries, lilacs and cherries fill the air
A delicious fair!
Life infused with the sunshine's rays
And the longer days
Make time for music in the meadow

Young lovers make music in meadow,
The girls are plaiting flowers in their hair
The boys steal some kisses there
Oh the music from Bel's grassy knoll
Moves magic 'round the Maypole
Oh, I wish that I could go to the Meadow

My youth has past
In the role of loyal wife I was cast
I married, made babies and buried my hopes and dreams
For his it seems
A life removed from the summer joys
Is sure to destroy
Any time for music in the meadow

But young lovers make music in meadow,
The girls are plaiting flowers in their hair
The boys steal some kisses there
Oh the music from Bel's grassy knoll
Moves magic 'round the Maypole
Oh, I wish that I could go to the Meadow

Now I'm free
It's just my little boy and me
Temptations, sensations have crossed my path
But I just laugh
Because love so true in the month of May
Only lasts a year and a day
A short time for music in the meadow

But young lovers make music in meadow!
Lovely girls are plait the flowers in their hair
Sweet boys steal your kisses there!
Oh the music from Bel's grassy knoll
Moves magic 'round the Maypole
Oh, it's your time to go to the meadow

Ruby Ruse to Attend the Council Oak Renaissance Art Faire

 Ruby Ruse

On Saturday, April 16, 2016 I am delighted to report that Ruby Ruse will be attending the Council Oak Montessori Renaissance Art Faire with her friends (of the World of Faeries Festival fame), the beautiful LaMeris LeFae Miromara and gregarious Thaddeus. Also joining us is the harmonious Viscaria Veil and her melodious friends who are members of the Bristol Buskin Frolic. Ruby Ruse will sing her haunting songs of the fae and will take you further into mystery and myth with her Fairy Fortunes and Geomancy, a Renaissance art of fortune telling.

LaMeris LeFae Miromara

 Thaddeus

 Viscaria Veil

This Renaissance Faire culminates with an auction of the Council Oak Montessori art work. This art work is some of the most exquisite and unique you will ever find, as all of the pieces are collaborative works by the students of The Council Oak Montessori School. In our time we have seen the progressive removal of art from schools to make way for frustrating programs more interested in churning out statistics than providing a progressive education which encourages creative thinking, inventiveness and cultural awareness. Council Oak Montessori, with one beautiful event, shows the magnitude and power of children and art. The Montessori system broadens the focus of education to encompass the whole child – physical, social, emotional and cognitive. The System was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the 1890s and has continued to enjoy worldwide success in children’s education.

The Council Oak Renaissance Art Faire is open to the public and in addition to the art, the fairies and the music of Viscaria, there is food and a cash bar. The proceeds all funnel back to scholarship programs so that students can benefit from the all-encompassing education Council Oak has to offer. Ruby Ruse has seen a bright future for the child artists of Council Oak! See for yourself how amazing they are.
