This Renaissance Faire culminates with an auction of the Council Oak Montessori art work. This art work is some of the most exquisite and unique you will ever find, as all of the pieces are collaborative works by the students of The Council Oak Montessori School. In our time we have seen the progressive removal of art from schools to make way for frustrating programs more interested in churning out statistics than providing a progressive education which encourages creative thinking, inventiveness and cultural awareness. Council Oak Montessori, with one beautiful event, shows the magnitude and power of children and art. The Montessori system broadens the focus of education to encompass the whole child – physical, social, emotional and cognitive. The System was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the 1890s and has continued to enjoy worldwide success in children’s education.
The Council Oak Renaissance Art Faire is open to the public and in addition to the art, the fairies and the music of Viscaria, there is food and a cash bar. The proceeds all funnel back to scholarship programs so that students can benefit from the all-encompassing education Council Oak has to offer. Ruby Ruse has seen a bright future for the child artists of Council Oak! See for yourself how amazing they are.
